United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) has appointed Emmanuel N. Nnorom as its new Group Chairman, bringing back to the top of the bank’s leadership a veteran executive with more than 40 years of experience in business and finance.
Nnorom, a chartered accountant, has spent more than eight years in senior leadership roles within the UBA Group, giving him a deep understanding of the bank and its operations across Africa.
He previously served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Africa, where he was responsible for the Group’s operations in 18 African countries.
Before that, Nnorom served as UBA’s Group Chief Operating Officer and Group Chief Financial Officer. He has also served as a Non-Executive Director on the UBA Board.
His appointment comes as UBA continues to expand its business across Africa and strengthen its position as a pan-African financial services group.
Having held senior positions covering finance, operations and regional business, Nnorom takes over the chairmanship with extensive knowledge of the Group’s business and strategy.
His experience in managing UBA’s African operations is expected to be particularly important as the bank navigates a competitive financial services market and looks to grow its presence both within and beyond Africa.
Nnorom’s return to a senior leadership position also provides continuity at a time when UBA is focused on growth and expanding its reach across key African markets.
The new Group Chairman brings more than four decades of experience to the role, having built his career in accounting, banking and corporate leadership.
His appointment marks a new phase for UBA as the Group seeks to build on its existing operations and pursue further growth across the continent.
