MAC East Africa, in collaboration with ISUZU East Africa and national road safety stakeholders, successfully concluded the 3rd Joint Smart Bus/Truck Drivers and Operators Training Program (JSBTDOT) held from June 16th to 20th at Metroplex Naalya. The event welcomed over 500 attendees from across the transport ecosystem — including bus operators, schools, NGOs, and government offices — united in their commitment to safer roads.
This program reflects a long-standing commitment to reducing road accidents in Uganda by addressing their leading cause: human error. The training featured expert-led sessions on defensive driving, road safety protocols, and handling of modern vehicle systems— delivered by certified trainers from ISUZU East Africa and the Uganda Driving Standards Agency.
According to the Uganda Police Force, over 80% of road fatalities stem from preventable driver behavior. The training was designed to help reduce this toll by equipping participants with practical tools and renewed discipline on the road.
The program also aligned with ISUZU’s regional philosophy of ‘SEE’ — Safety, Economy, and Environment — by enhancing operational efficiency, fuel discipline, and environmental awareness within Uganda’s transport sector.
MAC East Africa emphasized that this training is not a one-off campaign but a sustained mission to embed safety culture across the transport industry. The company is committed to running this program quarterly as part of its corporate responsibility framework. As Uganda continues to grow its transport network, MAC East Africa and ISUZU East Africa urge all drivers, fleet managers, and institutions to apply the principles learned and to work together to protect lives, reduce accidents, and honor the road.
