Victoria University Kampala has reached a new cooperation arrangement with Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SEAMK) in Finland, paving the way for student and staff exchanges, joint research and other academic collaborations.
The agreement follows a visit to SEAMK by a Victoria University delegation led by the Vice Chancellor.
During the visit, the two universities held discussions with SEAMK President and CEO Dr. Jaakko Hallila and his team on areas where they can work together.
The discussions focused on student and staff exchanges, collaborative research, knowledge sharing and broader academic engagement.
The partnership will give Victoria University students and staff an opportunity to interact with their counterparts in Finland, experience a different academic environment and develop networks that could support research and innovation initiatives.
The Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga described SEAMK as a strong institution in applied higher education, research, entrepreneurship and innovation. He also noted the university’s strong performance in Finland’s graduate feedback surveys, where it ranks highly in areas including learning environments, thesis work and entrepreneurship readiness.
For Victoria University, the cooperation adds to its growing international engagement and could give its academic community access to new knowledge, research opportunities and international networks.
Muganga applauded Dr. Hallila and the SEAMK team for hosting the delegation and said Victoria University looks forward to welcoming the Finnish university’s representatives to Uganda.
The two institutions are expected to build on the discussions held in Finland as they develop practical areas of cooperation in the coming period.
