Absa Rolls Out Titan Awards To Recognise Partners Expanding Access To Productive Asset Finance

Absa Bank Uganda has recognised 13 outstanding dealer partners through the inaugural Titan Awards, a new annual initiative aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships that expand access to vehicle and asset finance, enabling businesses and individuals to invest in the productive assets that drive Uganda’s economic growth.

In his remarks, David Wandera, Managing Director, Absa Bank Uganda appreciated the dealers for their continued collaboration. “Providing financing to individuals and businesses investing in productive assets is only possible because of the strong partnerships we have built with our dealer network. Behind every vehicle, tractor, bus or piece of construction equipment financed by Absa is a partnership between the Bank and our dealers. The Titan Awards recognise partners whose commitment to excellence, customer service and collaboration has enabled more Ugandans to access the financing they need to invest, grow businesses and strengthen communities.”

The importance of asset finance continues to grow as businesses invest in productive assets for business growth and to improve competitiveness. According to the June 2026 State of the Economy Report by Bank of Uganda, private sector credit continues to grow with agriculture accounting for 12% of private sector credit, manufacturing 11%, trade 14%, transport and communication 5%, while housing and real estate account for 22.0%. These sectors increasingly rely on financing to invest in vehicles, equipment and machinery that improve productivity and support economic growth.

The awards recognise excellence and performance across Absa’s asset finance ecosystem, celebrating dealer partners in passenger and commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, agricultural machinery, specialised business assets and environmental sustainability. These industries play a critical role in improving productivity and supporting Uganda’s economic development.

Attending as the Guest of Honour, Winstone Katushabe, the Commissioner for Transport Regulation and Safety who also serves as Chief Motor Vehicle Licensing Officer at the Uganda Ministry of Works and Transport commended Absa Bank for contributing to expanding access to asset finance, noting that strong partnerships between government, financial institutions and the private sector are critical to Uganda’s economic transformation.

“A productive asset should not remain permanently beyond the reach of a farmer, an entrepreneur, a school or a growing business simply because they are unable to pay its full cost at once. It is encouraging to see banks such as Absa partnering with dealers and manufacturers to make these productive assets more accessible. These investments increase productivity, create jobs, strengthen safety standards and enhance the competitiveness of Uganda’s economy.”

The award recipients represent Uganda’s leading suppliers of vehicles and productive assets. Motor Center was recognised as the Top Passenger Vehicle Dealer (Brand New), while Mighty Rides received the award for Top Passenger Vehicle Dealer (Used). Double Q and Tata Uganda were honoured as the leading partners in commercial vehicles for trucks and buses respectively.

Pearltrac Uganda Limited and Afgri were recognised for their contribution to the construction and agriculture sectors, while Achilles Rental Uganda Limited received the award for Top Specialised Asset Supplier.

Al-Mamoun was named Emerging Dealer of the Year, Motor Care received the award for the Highest Transaction Volume, Pacific Diagnostic was recognised for the Highest Transaction Value, Double Q was honoured as the Fastest Deal Turnaround Partner, and Kiira Motors received the Environmental Champion of the Year award for advancing sustainable mobility solutions.

“Our promise to the market is to continue to avail financing when and where it is needed. This is demonstrated by initiatives like our partnership with Tata Uganda which we rolled out last year to enable schools across Uganda to acquire modern, safe and reliable school buses through affordable asset finance. Our other incentives include flexible arrangement fees, repayments and affordable interest rates,” said Moses Rutahigwa, Retail and Business Banking Director, Absa Bank Uganda.

The Titan Awards are annual and will continue to celebrate dealer partners whose performance, innovation and collaboration are expanding access to productive asset finance across Uganda.
