Equity Bank Uganda will on Saturday, August 1, 2026, host the latest edition of the Equity Diaspora Xchange, a virtual forum that will bring together government officials, financial experts and Ugandans living abroad to discuss how diaspora remittances can be turned into long-term investments.
The discussion will be held under the theme, “From Remittance to Investment Capital: Diaspora Wealth for Uganda’s Economic Transformation,” and will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.
The forum will feature Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, as the keynote speaker. He is expected to share insights on the growing role of diaspora investment in supporting Uganda’s economic development.
Joining him on the panel will be Gift Shoko, Managing Director of Equity Bank Uganda; Joseph Enyimu, Commissioner for Economic Development Policy and Research at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development; and Winfred Wanjiru, Senior Manager, International Banking and Cross-Border Payments at Equity Bank Uganda.
The discussion will be moderated by Robert Wanok, Head of Retail Banking at Equity Bank Uganda.
The webinar will focus on practical ways of moving beyond remittances for household consumption and encouraging investment in sectors that create jobs, grow businesses and contribute to Uganda’s long-term economic transformation.
The event is part of Equity Bank’s continued efforts to strengthen engagement with the Ugandan diaspora by providing information, financial solutions and opportunities that enable them to invest confidently back home.
